EU customs duty on small parcels
On 12th December 2025, the Council of the European Union announced a temporary customs duty measure that will be introduced on 1st July 2026:
- A fixed customs duty of
€3will be applied to small parcels valued atless than €150entering the EU - This customs duty has been introduced as a temporary measure, with no specified end date
- The €3 duty will be applied per item within a parcel, not per parcel
- Specifically, it will be charged per tariff heading in a consignment, meaning one charge for each distinct product type
- Multiple quantities of the same item within a parcel will only incur a single €3 charge
- The €3 duty applies to all goods under €150 imported via IOSS, regardless of product type
- Initially, the duty will apply only to shipments made by IOSS-registered merchants
- Sellers not using IOSS are not subject to the €3 duty for now
The EU has stated that the European Commission will review whether to extend the €3 duty to non-IOSS sellers in the future, in order to close loopholes or prevent avoidance.
Managing the €3 Duty in your ShopWired account
To help you manage this change, ShopWired will introduce new functionality within your ShopWired account by 31st May 2026. This functionality will extend the Landed Cost Calculator app to allow you to:

- This gives you full control to opt in to ShopWired collecting the €3 duty on your behalf
- Automatically add the €3 duty charge(s) to the visitor's shopping basket, shown clearly under the heading Customs & Duties
- Automatically convert the €150 threshold and €3 duty to your account’s home currency (e.g. Pounds Sterling), using the same rates from Open Exchange Rates used in ShopWired’s multi-currency app
There will be no additional charge to use this new feature.
ShopWired’s integrations with:
