EU import handling fee added to duty calculations
From 1 November 2026, the European Union is introducing a new €2 handling fee for goods imported into the EU from countries outside the EU, including the UK.
The fee is calculated at €2 per distinct six-digit HS code within a shipment, regardless of the quantity of products sharing the same code. The fee also applies to shipments valued above €150.
Our duty engine has confirmed that it updated its calculation logic on 24 October 2026 to account for the new fee ahead of its introduction. This allows the fee to be included in calculations for orders placed before 1 November that may arrive at EU customs after the new rules take effect.
Merchants using the landed cost calculator app on ShopWired will automatically see the new handling fee reflected in the duty and tax calculations provided by our duty engine.
