Mailchimp app store selection and audience syncing improvements
The Mailchimp app for ShopWired has been updated to improve how ecommerce stores are selected or created in Mailchimp, and to clarify how audiences are used when syncing customers.
When connecting the Mailchimp app, ShopWired will now automatically look for an existing Mailchimp ecommerce store named ShopWired and select it if one exists. If no such store is found, users can either select an existing Mailchimp store or create a new one. When creating a new store, ShopWired will create the store in Mailchimp with the name ShopWired and associate it with the selected Mailchimp audience.
Customer syncing behaviour has also been clarified and improved. If no audiences are configured in the Audience Settings section of the app, customers will be synced to the Mailchimp audience associated with the selected ecommerce store. If one or more audiences are configured in Audience Settings, those audiences will take precedence and the store’s audience will be ignored for customer syncing. This change removes ambiguity and ensures customer data is sent exactly where intended.
In addition, several related improvements and refinements have been made:
- The ecommerce store section has been repositioned for better visibility
- Redundant controls have been removed to simplify the interface
- Sync status messaging has been improved to better reflect how progress is shown
- Exported order data has been clarified, including clearer paid and abandoned order status
- Mailchimp API logs now more clearly reflect integration activity
These changes do not affect how products, orders, vouchers, or abandoned baskets are synced, which continue to use the selected Mailchimp ecommerce store.
