What's new at ShopWired?
Apple Pay & Google Pay Express Checkout
Both Apple Pay & Google Pay can now be made available on your website's checkout to bypass address customer login and/or address entry.
To enable these express payment methods on your website's checkout:
- Navigate to ShopWired Payments > Settings
- Locate the Other payment method options section
- Select
yes
for the Allow customers to check out via Apple Pay & Google Pay setting
Checkout journey
When login at checkout is configured
- If you have configured your checkout to request visitors login during checkout, the Apple Pay / Google Pay buttons are displayed directly beneath the
guest checkout
option - If
guest checkout
is not enabled, the Apple Pay / Google Pay buttons are displayed beneath the option to create a new account - After login or account creation, the Apple Pay / Google Pay buttons are displayed at the top of the page where existing addresses are selected
When login at checkout is not configured
- If you have configured your checkout not to request visitors login during checkout, the Apple Pay / Google Pay buttons are displayed at the top of the page where the visitor is prompted to enter their delivery and billing addresses
When using Click & Collect
- If your checkout uses Click & Collect visitors are first prompted to select a collect location before proceeding to payment
Selection of delivery rate
Visitors selecting to check out with Apple Pay / Google Pay are required to select a delivery zone and delivery rate before proceeding through to checkout.
The stage in checkout where this occurs depends on your checkout's configuration:
- Delivery rate selection configuration
- Whether you are offering a Click & Collect option
Other notes
- The appearance of the Apple Pay / Google Pay buttons is determined by a number of factors:
- Whether you have activated Apple Pay / Google Pay as a checkout option in your settings
- Whether the visitor's browser supports Apple Pay / Google Pay
- Whether the visitor has at least one valid payment method
- After initially selecting Apple Pay / Google Pay and completing necessary steps (selecting a cick & collect location, a delivery zone and delivery rate etc.) visitors are prompted to click the Apple Pay / Google Pay button again to complete their payment
- After selecting the option a popup window will load for the user to make their selection
- Orders completed through Apple Pay / Google Pay are identified when viewing the transaction (either within your Stripe account or for ShopWired Payments, on the transaction information page
- There may be rare, edge cases, where the Apple Pay / Google Pay buttons are available for selection on your website's checkout but our detection system later detects these payment methods are not available, in which case no payment method will be displayed and the visitor will need to check out using a different payment method (e.g. traditional card payment)
- Apple Pay / Google Pay Express Checkout is not available for:
- Subscription orders
- Pre-orders
