Selling on Instagram
You can sell your products on Instagram through your Instagram shop and by tagging your products in your Instagram posts.
In order to sell your products on Instagram, you must have an Instagram professional account as well as meet the other eligibility requirements as set out by Instagram.
Creating a catalogue
Once you have met all of Instagram's eligibility requirements, you can use Meta’s Commerce Manager to add a catalogue of your products using an XML feed. You can obtain an XML feed of your products by using the Product multi-channel feed app. Once the app is installed, configure how you would like your products to be sent in the feed.
To add your products in Meta's Commerce Manager:
- Under ‘Catalog’, select Items
- Then in the top left corner, select Add products
- For the preferred option of how to add your products, select Data feed
- On the next screen, under the question ‘Which platform is your data feed formatted for?’, select Google Merchant Center
- Under ‘Choose how to upload your file’, select Use a URL or Google Sheets
- In the URL field, paste the URL for from within the Product Multi-Channel Feed app
- If you have password-protected your feed, ensure that you enter the username and password that you have configured, or else Facebook won’t be able to access the feed
- On the next screen, enter a name for the catalogue and select the default currency for your products (which should be the same currency that is used on your website)
- Under the ‘Data feed schedule’, you can set how frequently you want the feed to be uploaded to Meta. As the Product Multi-Channel Feed updates daily between 5 am and 7 am UTC, you should select Daily for the frequency and 08:00 AM GMT for the time
- Then select to upload your products to Meta
Once your products have been uploaded, you can then tag them in your Instagram posts as well as use them in your Instagram Shop.
