Website design
The design of your e-commerce website is determined by your ShopWired account's live theme.
On ShopWired, your account can have one live theme, which is the version of your website that customers interact with, and up to seven draft themes, which are unpublished versions used for development or testing. A theme defines the overall look and feel of your website, including:
- Its layout (arrangement of content, menus, and navigation on each page)
- The colour scheme and font styles used across the website
- How product images, banners, and other visuals are displayed
- Customised behaviours, like filtering, pop-ups, or special animations
Your theme is independent of the rest of your website and ShopWired account's data. Switching or editing your theme allows you to completely transform the appearance and functionality of your website without altering your product data or settings.
Choosing, installing and customising your website's theme
ShopWired has a dedicated set of help guides which cover every aspect of choosing, installing and customising your website's theme.
You can read the theme help guides here.
Each theme available on ShopWired has its own set of customisation options, and the website's appearance and functionality can be further customised by editing the theme's code.
Some important help guides and notes about themes are included below:
Theme versions
ShopWired currently offers two separate theme versions, Version 4 and Version 5 themes. Version 5 themes are the most customisable themes offered by ShopWired and ShopWired strongly recommends using a Version 5 theme.

Theme support & design
ShopWired's theme support team can help you customise your theme by using the theme editor and code editor available within your ShopWired account. Theme support can also make small changes to your website for you without charge.
ShopWired has a specific policy relating to the support that we offer for theme customisation (as part of your subscription package) and any additional charges that are made for customisations that are outside of this policy.
Read ShopWired's theme support & design policy.
Customisation
Customisation of your theme (when not editing the theme's code) is performed using the theme editor.

Code changes
When you install a theme in your ShopWired account, all of the files that make up the theme (determining its layout, design and functionality) are available for you to edit. You can create new theme files too.
If you're familiar with HTML, CSS & JS coding, you'll find it easy to customise your theme beyond the customisation options offered through the theme editor. ShopWired themes use a templating language called to render dynamic content on your website through the theme files. Read more about Twig.
