Searching posts
To search your blog posts use the ‘Search Your Posts’ box:
To only view posts in a specific category use the ‘View Posts In Category’ box:
Managing existing posts
In the ‘Existing Posts’ box you can see all of the posts you have created:
Post Name tells you the name you have given the post. Clicking on the name takes you to the edit page for the post.
Last Edited tells you the date that post was last edited.
Use the tick box under Active to decide if the post should be active on your website. If, when creating the post, you selected for it to be published at a future date, then even when the post is active, it will not display on your blog's home or category pages until the selected date, but you will still be able to view the post at its URL before it's published. Additionally, if a post is marked as 'inactive' it will not display on your website (except for at the direct URL). This means if you have marked a blog to be published at a later date, but the post is inactive, when that date comes the blog will not publish on your website.
Selecting View takes you to the post on your website.
Selecting Edit takes you to the edit page for the post where you can edit the details, content, categorisation and SEO of the blog.
Use the bin icon under Delete to delete a post.
Managing your blog’s settings
To manage the settings of your blog select the Manage Settings button in the top right corner:
A window will then appear where you can change the settings:
Number of posts on home page
This setting determines the number of blog posts shown on the homepage of the blog. The default setting here is 10, but you can change it to however many you wish. Just remember that the more posts on the homepage, the longer the loading time will be for that page.
Number of words in excerpt
The excerpt is the small summary of a blog post that the readers will see on the home and category pages. When creating or editing the post you can choose to write a specific excerpt yourself which can be as long or as short as you want it to be.
If you choose to not write a specific excerpt for the post, then the system will take the excerpt from the content of the post. This will be taken from the beginning of the post, and you can use this setting to determine how many words you want to be included in an excerpt.
Number of posts per page
This setting determines the number of blog posts shown on any page of your blog. The default setting is 10, but you can change it to however many you wish. Once again, just remember that having too many posts on one page will increase the loading time for that page.
Once you have finished making any changes select save changes.
Google News sitemap
The system automatically creates a Google News sitemap for blog posts that you create. If you want Google to include your blog posts in their search results you can submit your sitemap to Google.
You can learn more about the Google News sitemap and how to submit your sitemap at https://support.google.com/news/publisher/answer/74288?hl=en-GB
The sitemap generated by ShopWired only contains blog posts with a post date in the previous 48 hours. This is in accordance with Google's specification.
Your sitemap is available at http://www.yourdomainname.com/sitemap-news.xml. Just replace www.yourdomainname.com with your actual domain name.
Important - please note!
Sitemaps are generated by the ShopWired platform every 24 hours (overnight). If you create a blog post today, it won't appear in your news sitemap until tomorrow.
Helpful tip!
You may see an error in your Google account for your news sitemap that says there is a Missing HTML tag, and details that the missing tag is the url tag. This error means that at the time of reading the sitemap, it didn't contain any blog posts. The most likely cause of this is that you don't have any relevant blog posts on your website to include in the sitemap (the sitemap only includes blog posts from the previous 48 hours).
