Order timeline
ShopWired's order timeline feature provides detailed information about the various events that occur on an order after it is created. This timeline is visible when viewing an order within your ShopWired account and offers a chronological sequence of events for better order management.
Key events displayed in the order timeline:
- Order creation the date and time when the order was created
- Emails sent record of any emails sent to the customer, including order confirmations and status updates
- Transaction/payment information details of payment methods, transaction IDs, and any changes related to payments
- Order status changes updates on order status changes, including when the order is marked as cancelled or when a pre-order is ready for despatch
- Admin comments any comments added by you or your team, recorded with the name of the user who made the comment
- API actions events triggered by calls made to ShopWired's API, indicated with the text API

Order timeline entries
- Order creation date/time the first entry records when the order was created, even if the order is incomplete
- Quote transition if an order is created from a quote transitioning to a paid state, the timeline includes entries from the original quote
- Product edits when products in an order are edited, a new copy of the order is created, and the original order is marked as cancelled. The original order's events are not copied to the new order
- Admin comments the user account that created any admin comments is recorded. Admin comments can be deleted, but this action is irreversible
- Email records when an email is sent, the timeline records the email address it was sent to and provides both HTML and plain text versions of the email
- Email address changes if the customer's email address is changed after an email is sent, the timeline records the original email address
Quote timeline entries
- Quote creation records the date and time when a quote was created
- Draft quote sent records when a draft quote is sent to a customer
- Admin comments any comments added by the admin or through the API when the quote was created

Events not displayed in the timeline
These events are not recorded in the order timeline:
- Tracking URL changes when the contents of the Tracking URL setting is changed
- Order status changes when an order becomes active or inactive
- Customer details edits when the customer's details on the order are edited
- Quote payment when a quote is marked as paid through admin
- Custom field data when any custom field data on the order is added or edited
- Refunds any refunds added to an order
- Order edits any edits made to an order, such as customer details, products, shipping method, or voucher codes applied
These events are not recorded in the quote timeline:
- Quote edits when a quote is edited
- Custom field data when any custom field data on the quote is added or edited

Email records in the timeline
- When an order email, quote email, or order status email is sent, an entry is recorded on the order's or quote's timeline
- The contents of the email sent, both plain text and HTML versions, are recorded at the time the email is sent
- The email contents are available for viewing in the order timeline by selecting the view HTML or view plain text option
Resending emails
- You can resend an email by selecting the
resend email
option in the order timeline. The email will be resent as it was originally stored, and any edits made to the email template will not be applied - Emails can be resent a maximum of 5 times. After this limit is reached, the
resend email
option will no longer appear
