Pre-order release
ShopWired's pre-order release app allows you to manage the release of . The app automates the process of charging customers and updating order statuses when a pre-ordered product becomes available for shipment and you're ready to dispatch customer orders.
- Select a product to be released, and the app automatically checks all pre-orders containing the products
- If the product is the only pre-order product in the order, the app will attempt to charge the customer's card
- If the product is one of several pre-order products, the app will remember the product has been released and won't attempt to charge the customer's card until all products in the pre-order have been released through the app
- You can set a specific order status for successful and unsuccessful payment attempts when charging the customer's stored card for pre-orders
- The app records release events and provides details of previous releases
To install the app:
- Navigate to Apps
- Locate the Pre-order release app
- Select

To manage the app's settings and release products, navigate to Orders > Pre-order release.

Select the settings
option to configure the app's settings.
Order status for successful charges
Select the order status that you'd like the app to change pre-orders to once a customer's card is successfully charged. Use the Send order status email setting to select to send an order status email to the customer when their card is successfully charged.

Select the order status that you'd like the app to change pre-orders to if a customer's card is declined. Use the Send order status email setting to select to send an order status email to the customer when their card is declined.
Releasing a product
Releasing a product
When you release a product, the app will check through all orders on your ShopWired account to find orders:
- That have the pre-order status
- That have an order status that corresponds with the of cancelled
- That contain the product being released
- That, if the product has been released in the past, the order was created since the last release
All products that were pre-order products at the time an identified order was created must have been released through the app before the app will attempt to charge the customer's card.
To release a product:
- Navigate Orders > Pre-order release
- Use the Search section to search for the product you'd like to release
- You can search the product list by product name or SKU code
- Information about the product is displayed:
- The product's current ships-on date
- The number of orders since the product was last released
- This will display none if the product hasn't been released through the app before
- The date/time of the last release, if any
- If there are orders to process, select the
release
option- The release option will not be displayed if the app cannot detect any applicable orders to process

Once a product release has been initiated, it will be displayed in the Previous releases section along with all other prior releases.
For each release, the app displays:
- Product displays the name of the product released
- Created displays the date/time that the release was initiated
- Status displays the status of the release:
- Pending means the release is currently awaiting being processed
- In progress means the release is currently processing
- Completed means the release has been completed
- Expired means the release didn't complete within the required time frame
- Cancelled means that the release was cancelled
- Processed orders displays the number of pre-orders processed by the app
If the product being released is the only product in an identified order that was a at the time the order was created, the app will attempt to charge the customer's card. If there are other pre-order products in an identified order, the released product is marked for release. All pre-order products must be marked for release before the app will attempt to charge the card.

Releases must be completed within one hour of their creation. If a release doesn't complete processing within one hour, it will be given a status of expired
and display the number of orders that were processed.
The app can process approximately 1,500 orders per hour.
You can continue the release by selecting the retry
option.

If the customer's card cannot be charged, the order's pre-order status is retained and, if configured, the order's status is changed and an order status email is sent to the customer.
