ShopWired's text editor
ShopWired uses a customised version of the Froala WYSIWYG editor to provide a user-friendly interface for creating and editing content on your website.
The editor is used on text and information pages throughout your account. It allows you to format content, insert links and media, and structure your page layout without needing to write HTML. However, there are some important considerations and limitations to be aware of.
Text formatting
- Apply formatting such as bold, italic, underline and strikethrough
- Adjust text size using heading and paragraph styles
- Change text alignment (left, centre, right or justified)
- Apply text and background colours
Lists
- Create bulleted or numbered lists
- Indent or outdent list items for multi-level formatting
Links
- Add internal or external links to your content
- Set links to open in a new tab
- Apply link titles for accessibility and SEO
Media and files
- Insert images into your content from your device or by URL
- Add videos via YouTube or direct embed
- Upload files (PDFs, documents etc.) and link to them
Tables
- Insert tables with rows and columns
- Merge or split cells
- Add header rows and adjust alignment
HTML view
- Use the HTML view to access and edit the source code for advanced customisation
- Only recommended for users familiar with HTML and CSS
Copying content from other sources
Copying content from other sources
When copying and pasting content into the Froala editor, hidden formatting may be carried across. This often happens when copying from:
- Another website
- Microsoft Word
- Google Docs
- PDF files
Pasted content may retain font styles, sizes, colours, spacing and other formatting. This can lead to inconsistent layout and display issues on your live website.
To avoid this:
- Paste your content into a plain text editor (e.g. Notepad) first to remove formatting
- Then copy it again from the plain text editor into the Froala editor
- Alternatively, use the Froala 'paste as plain text' option if it's available in your browser
Preview and formatting issues
Preview and formatting issues
The way your content appears in the editor may differ slightly from how it appears on your website. This can happen because your theme applies additional styling (CSS) that overrides what's shown in the editor.
If the layout or formatting doesn’t match after saving:
- Preview your page first to check how it appears
- If it looks incorrect, contact theme support
Tips for using the editor
Tips for using the editor
- Use the built-in tools rather than copying formatted content from elsewhere
- Avoid mixing too many fonts, sizes or colours in the same block of content
- Keep your formatting consistent across all pages
- Save regularly while editing long pages
- Use tables for structured data, not for layout
- If you're unsure why something doesn’t look right, use the HTML view to inspect the code or ask for support
