SEO warnings
ShopWired provides a basic SEO warnings system that will alert you if two or more pages on your website share:
- The same title tag
- The same meta description
- The same page URL
These are collectively known as SEO warnings.
Google best practices and recommendations state that title tags and meta descriptions should be unique across all pages on your website.
If two or more website pages share the same URL, only one of the website pages will be accessible.
SEO warnings
To check if your account has any SEO warnings, navigate to Dashboard > SEO warnings.
The SEO warnings page contains three separate sections:
- Page URL warnings
- Displaying the details of any website pages that share the same URL
- Page title tag warnings
- Displaying the details of any website pages that share the same title tag
- Meta description tag warnings
- Displaying the details of any website pages that share the same meta description
In each section, ShopWired will list the value (URL, title tag, meta description) that is duplicated and the pages that contain the duplication.
To resolve an SEO warning
Select the link to the page that contains a duplicate and edit the property that is causing the warning using the SEO tags section.
You may find that the settings in the SEO tags section are empty (blank). If so, ShopWired will be automatically generating the website page's SEO tags based on the page's title
and description
. You should therefore manually enter details to ensure that they are unique to this page.
