Cancelling orders, refunding orders, returning stock
Cancelling orders
ShopWired doesn't have a specific concept of an order being 'cancelled', so you can manage cancelled orders as you want and need to.
To cancel an order, ShopWired recommends and changing the .
Returning stock
For each product in an order (where you are for the product), you can use the return stock
option, when viewing the order, to return all of the stock quantity for ordered products back to the SKU code’s stock quantity.
The return stock
option will be displayed for a product in an order if all of the following conditions are met:
- The product has a SKU
- The product has not already had its stock returned
- The SKU matches either:
- A valid product variation in your ShopWired account
- A non-bundle product in your ShopWired account
If any of these conditions are not met, the return stock
option will not be shown.
Refunding an order
To create a refund for an order, when viewing the order navigate to the Refunds section:
- Enter the amount of the refund and any comments that you'd like to make about the refund (for example, the reason for the refund)
- You can enter any amount for the refund up to the grand total of the order
You can add multiple refunds to an order, but the total amount of refunds cannot exceed the grand total of the order.
Refunds are created inclusive of VAT/tax; you cannot specify the total amount of VAT/tax separately, and the refund amount affects the grand total of the order only (ShopWired does not recalculate the amount of VAT on the order).
Once you've created a refund, it will be displayed in the Products ordered section beneath the grand total. Refunds are also displayed in the Refunds section, displaying:
- The time/date that the refund was created
- The amount of the refund
- The refund comment
You can delete a refund by clicking the delete button next to the refund. This will remove the refund permanently; however, if the transaction was refunded with the payment gateway (through ShopWired’s integration), deleting a refund will not reverse any refund on the original transaction.
Payment gateway refunds
Payment gateway refunds
For nearly all of ShopWired’s payment gateway integrations, adding a refund to an order in ShopWired will not refund the original transaction, and you’ll need to do this separately through your payment gateway account.
Adding a refund to an order created with one of the following payment gateways will refund the original transaction:
- ShopWired Payments
- Stripe
- Opayo Direct (for orders created on or after 27/09/2023)
- PayPal (the latest integration only)
- PayPal powered by Braintree
A notice is displayed in the refund section of the order page to inform you whether or not adding a refund will refund the original transaction. For some payment gateways, you must select the refund the transaction
option to also refund the customer's payment transaction.
