Currencies
Your ShopWired website transacts in the currency defined by your ShopWired account's location. For example, if your ShopWired account is registered to the United Kingdom, your website will transact in Pounds Sterling (£), and if your account is registered to the United States, your website will transact in Dollars ($).

Currency conversion rates
Currency conversion rates
When using the multi-currency app, you have two choices of how to set the conversion rates for currencies you configure:
- Manually set the conversion rate yourself
- Use ShopWired's automatic system for setting the conversion rate (ShopWired uses the Open Exchange Rates API)
For the setting labelled Set conversion rates manually or automatically select either manual
or automatic
depending on your preference.
Manual conversion rates
When selecting to set conversion rates manually, use the Currency conversion rates section on the currencies settings page in ShopWired to enter the conversion rate for each currency you have configured.
The conversion rate must be entered by how many units of the currency are equal to your ShopWired account's currency. For example, if 1 GBP (£) is worth 1.30 USD ($), you would enter 1.30
into the setting for the USD. If 1 GBP is worth 0.52 Omani Rial, you would enter 0.52
in the setting for Omani Rial.
Automatic conversion rates
When selecting to set conversion rates automatically, ShopWired will gather the latest exchange rates from the Open Exchange Rates API each day and set the corresponding conversion rates for the currencies you have configured.
Open Exchange Rates uses , which is the actual exchange rate used by international foreign exchange markets. It is unlikely, however, that your customers would have access to this exchange rate, so you should use the Increase percentage setting in the Automatic conversion rates section to display a more realistic rate to your customers.
For example, if the spot rate for GBP to USD is 1.30 but your customer is more likely to pay 1.35 USD for each GBP, the increase percentage would be 3.85%
. to help you calculate a percentage increase value to use. ShopWired recommends setting a value between 2% to 4%
.

Additional settings
Some additional settings are available for the multi-currency feature, located in the Currency settings section.

You can select this setting so that your website's display currency will automatically change once they have logged into their customer account on your website. If you haven't configured a currency matching their registered country, no currency will be selected.
Display prices without VAT when a foreign currency is used by the visitor
You can select this setting so that the prices of products and shipping will be automatically adjusted to remove VAT when a currency is selected for the visitor (or pre-selected when one or both of the above two settings are selected), where the currency's corresponding country has been selected by you as a non-VAT zone.
