Image galleries
Within your ShopWired account, you can create image galleries. Image galleries are collections of images that can either be embedded onto a specific website page or displayed as a stand-alone page on your website.
- Image galleries can be created through the image galleries page (by navigating to Website assets > Galleries
- All of your website's image galleries are displayed on the galleries page at
https://www.yourdomain.com/galleries
- Image galleries can be embedded onto a specific page on your website
- If you are using a Version 5 theme, you can use the theme editor to add an image gallery section to a website page using an image gallery you've created
- If you are using a Version 4 (or earlier) theme, you can embed an image gallery to a page by adding code to your website's theme
- Each image gallery has its own URL (page on your website)

Version 5 themes have many different types of sections you can add to your theme to display images (you don't have to use the image galleries feature).

Image galleries are assigned to a specific theme installed in your ShopWired account.
On the galleries page of your ShopWired account, image galleries are organised into the theme that they are assigned to. You cannot change the theme an image gallery is assigned to.
If you delete a theme from your ShopWired account, any image galleries assigned to the theme are not deleted and are instead displayed at the bottom of the galleries page in the Other galleries section.
The galleries page of your website (described below) only displays image galleries assigned to the theme being used to render the website.

All ShopWired websites, irrespective of the theme version, have a galleries page which displays all of the galleries created for the theme.
Your website's galleries page is available at https://www.yourdomain.com/galleries
.
Selecting an image gallery on this page will load the specific image gallery page and display the images that have been added to it. Each image gallery page therefore has its own URL, e.g. https://www.yourdomain.com/galleries?id=1234
.
Any text that's displayed on the galleries page can be customised through the theme editor.
SEO tags:
- You can configure the title tag, meta description and meta keywords for the galleries page using the settings available on the SEO settings page
- You can prevent the galleries page from being indexed in search engine results using the
noindex
setting available
Version 5 themes
Version 5 themes
If you are using a most of your website's images will be uploaded and managed by you through the theme editor. You only need to use the image galleries feature to:
- Create an image gallery to embed onto another type of website page (e.g. your website's about us page) or
- Create an image gallery to display as a stand-alone page on your website
To create an image gallery and upload images:
- Navigate to Website assets > Galleries
- Locate the theme you want to create the gallery on
- Your website's live theme is displayed at the top of the page
- Any are displayed beneath the live theme, in order of installation
- Select
create new gallery
- Enter the Name for the gallery, this will be displayed on the gallery page on your website and on the galleries page
- Upload the gallery's main image, this will be displayed on your website's galleries page
After creating the gallery, use the add new images
option to add new images to the gallery. You can add 5 new images to the gallery in each upload. Galleries can have an unlimited number of images.
Managing gallery images
When managing the images within a gallery:
- Use the
active/inactive
setting to toggle the image's status, inactive images are not displayed - Use the
delete
option to delete the image from the gallery - Use the compass icon to reorder images within a gallery by dragging and dropping each image into a new position
- The image's Image name/text is displayed on the gallery page on your website and used as the image's
- The Image target URL setting is not used for galleries on Version 5 themes

Using image galleries on your website
When you create a gallery, it won’t automatically be included in your website’s menus:
- To allow visitors to your website to navigate to the gallery page on your website, use ShopWired's link lists feature to add a link to the gallery page
- To embed the image gallery onto another website page:
- Create a website page using the landing pages feature (in the theme editor) and use an to add the image gallery to the landing page
- Use the theme editor to add the image gallery to a page type (e.g. to display the gallery on all product pages)
- Add the gallery to a specific page on your website by using theme code and editing your theme files
Version 4 themes
Version 4 themes
If you are using a Version 4 theme, some images displayed on the theme (such as home page banner images) are controlled using the galleries feature.
Each set of images (such as home page banner images) is managed through a separate gallery. The images contained in the gallery can either be managed using:
- The theme editor
- The galleries page
In addition to managing certain theme images, you can also use the galleries feature in the same way that it can be used for Version 5 themes:
- To create a galleries page on your website
- To create individual gallery pages on your website
