Files you have uploaded to your ShopWired account can be linked to on any of your website pages (either as a text or image link) using the URL for the file.
- Highlight the URL in the field for the file you want to link to and copy it to your computer's clipboard (e.g. by selecting
CTRL + C
on a Windows machine orCMD + C
on an Apple machine) - Next, navigate to the editor (CMS) for the page where you want to place the link
- Enter your text (or upload your image) for the link and use the file URL as the link URL
Linking to a file through a ready-made icon
Linking to a file through a ready-made icon
ShopWired offers ready-made icons which you can use to display links to your files instead of using text or your own image.
You can choose which icon you want to use based on the type of file that you have uploaded.
The available icon types are:
- DOC - For Word documents
- XLS - For spreadsheets
- PPT - For PowerPoint documents
- PDF - For Adobe PDF files
- TXT - For Simple Text documents
- PSD - For Photoshop files
- AI - For Adobe Illustrator files
- MP3 - For Multimedia files
Click on the button for the icon you want to use, and a text string will automatically be copied to your computer’s clipboard. (Please note: There is no message telling you it’s been copied).
The text copied is the HTML required to display the icon and therefore must be copied into a field that accepts HTML. For example, if you are adding the icon to a product's description, in the CMS use the HTML mode (selecting the </>
option).
