Basket rules
ShopWired's basket rules app allows you to create rules to automatically add products to a visitor's basket depending on the current contents of the basket.
If the visitor's basket no longer qualifies for the automatic product, the automatic product is removed.
The basket rules app can be used for things like:
- Charging a fee if a visitor's basket is under a certain amount
- Creating free gift / free product offers if a visitor's basket is over a certain amount
To install the app:
- Navigate to Apps
- Locate the Basket rules app
- Select
install this app
Products added to the visitor's basket as a result of a basket rule are called default products.

- Navigate to Discounts & offers > Basket rules
- Select
create basket rule - Select one or more products to add to the visitor's basket automatically (the
default products)- Use the
add anotheroption to select multiple default products - Use the Custom price field to enter a custom price for the product or select free for the product to be added at no cost

- Use the Basket scenario setting to determine under what circumstances the default product(s) are added to the basket:
All basketsmeans the default product(s) will always be added to the basketBaskets over a fixed amountmeans the default product(s) will be added to the basket when it is over a certain amountBaskets under a fixed amountmeans the default product(s) will be added to the basket when it is under a certain amount
- When selecting to add the default product(s) when the basket is over or under a certain amount, you must select an option from the Basket scenario basis setting:
Sub total excluding VATmeans the total of all products, after discounts, excluding VATSub total including VATmeans the total of all products, after discounts, including VATGrand total excluding VATmeans the total of all products and shipping costs, after discounts, excluding VATGrand total including VATmeans the total of all products and shipping costs, after discounts, including VAT
- Use the Amount setting to set what the amount should be
- Select dates from the Applies from date and Applies to date settings
- The rule will be applied from
00:00:00on the valid from date - The rule will stop being applied from
23:59:59on the valid to date
- The rule will be applied from
Existing basket rules display in the table shown on the page. Use the active setting to temporarily deactivate a basket rule or select to delete an existing basket rule.
Default products on orders
Default products on orders
When products are added to a basket and included in a completed order, and given a custom price as a result of a configured basket rule, information about which basket rule was applied and why is not detailed on the order.
The discounts obtained as a result of custom prices for basket rule default products are not included in the discounts line total on orders.
