Customer sources

ShopWired's how you heard about us app allows you to create a list of customer sources that visitors can choose from when creating a customer account on your website or placing an order to tell you how they heard about your website.

The How heard report in ShopWired then displays a report allowing you to track the most successful customer sources, the value and number of orders that each source has generated, and therefore what the best and worst performing sources are.

To install the app:

Navigate to Apps
Locate the How you heard about us app
Select install this app

Configuring customer sources

To configure and manage the customer sources on your website:

Navigate to Settings > Customer sources
Use the Create a new customer source section and the Customer source name setting to add the name of the source
- The list of configured sources is presented to visitors on your website to select from, so the sources should be familiar names, e.g. Google or Magazine
Existing sources are displayed in the Existing customer sources section where the source name can be edited or the source deleted
- When deleting a source, any orders or customer accounts associated with the source are not affected

Generating a report

You can view a report on the sources selected by visitors when successfully completing orders on your website using the how heard report.

Navigate to Dashboard > Reports
Locate the How heard report
Use the period from filter to select the report's start date
Use the period to filter to select the report's end date
Select apply filters

The generated report will be displayed in graphical and tabular form on the page and can be exported using the export report option.

Each customer source selected on an order is displayed in the report (the customer source will need to have at least 1 order in the period to be displayed in the table).

For each customer source, the report displays:

The customer source name
The highest order value
The average order value
The number of completed orders
The grand total (including VAT) of all orders

Customer accounts

For each customer account created on your website (either a normal customer or a trade customer), you can view the customer source selected by the visitor when the account was created by selecting to view the customer record in your ShopWired account (in the Notes & custom fields section).

When taking an export of your customers (either normal customers or trade customers), the customer source selected when the account was created will be visible in the SOURCE column.
