Stock management
SKU codes
On ShopWired, are used to instruct ShopWired to manage and track stock for products and variations. By managing stock, ShopWired will ensure that products for sale cannot go out of stock ().
Key information:
- A SKU can only be configured for a product or product variation
- When a SKU code is configured, ShopWired will track stock levels for the product or product variation
- SKU Codes can be configured:
- When creating or editing a product through the admin system
- When creating or editing a product through the product import/export system
- When creating or editing a product through the API
- SKU Codes should be unique:
- ShopWired does not currently enforce that SKU codes are unique
- Using the same SKU code across multiple products or variations may have unintended consequences, for example, when using the stock import system, stock & price sync app or the eBay app
- Where a SKU Code is configured for a product but not one of that product’s variations, the product variation will inherit the SKU Code of the product
- When a SKU Code is configured for a product or product variation, they will be treated by ShopWired as out of stock unless a stock quantity is entered that is greater than 0
- When a product or product variation does not have a SKU code, the stock management system is not triggered and the website will always show the product or product variation as in stock
- SKU codes must be a minimum of 1 character and can be a maximum of 128 characters
Stock management
Stock management
- A product/variation's (i.e. a unit's) stock status is determined by its stock quantity. If a unit has a quantity of 0 or less, it is out of stock
- Where a product has variations, a variation will inherit the stock quantity and stock status of its parent product unless separately configured
- By default, out of stock units cannot be added to the basket
- The stock on back order app can be used to enable out of stock products to be added to the basket
You can change the quantity of a SKU:
- When creating or editing the product
- When using the product import/export system
- From the stock management page (described below)
- When using the stock import system

ShopWired does not automatically hide out of stock products from your website, but you can activate a setting within your account to do so:
- Navigate to Products > Settings
- Navigate to the Out of stock products section
- Select the setting Hide out of stock products from search results and category pages
When out of stock products are selected to be hidden:
