VAT settings
ShopWired supports a number of different features for how VAT is handled on your website. Many of the available features can be activated from the VAT settings page within your ShopWired account (navigate to Settings > VAT).
Each available setting on the VAT settings page is described below.

If your business is registered for VAT select yes

If you are changing the status of your business after product or delivery prices have been entered, you must follow a when changing this setting to avoid changes to your prices.

Your ShopWired account will, by default, charge the standard VAT rate for your . The standard rate for your location is indicated in the Use the standard VAT rate for... setting.

If you want your ShopWired account to have a different standard rate of VAT, deselect the Use the standard VAT rate for... setting and configure the standard rate of VAT you'd like to apply using the Enter the standard VAT rate to charge to customers within the... setting.

Select how VAT should be calculated on visitor's shopping baskets and orders:

How product and delivery rate prices are entered
How product and delivery rate prices are entered
Will you enter product and delivery pricing including or excluding VAT?
You can enter product and delivery rate prices into your ShopWired account either including or excluding the VAT element of the price. The selection of this setting affects all places in which prices are entered (or uploaded through import systems), including when entering cost prices.

Charge customers the (full) VAT equivalent price for delivery when all products in the order do not attract VAT?
HMRC rules determine whether or not you should charge VAT on delivery costs.
Where VAT is usually charged on delivery costs, if you also sell products that have a reduced rate of VAT or are either zero rated or exempt from VAT, the VAT liability for delivery costs follows the VAT liability of the products in the order, . ShopWired automatically determines the VAT liability on delivery costs according to these rules.

Show prices including VAT to website visitors and standard customers?
You can select to show NET product prices (exclusive of VAT) to website visitors (visitors not logged into an account or logged into a standard customer account) by deselecting the setting Show prices including VAT to website visitors and standard customers?.

You can select to show NET product prices (exclusive of VAT) to website visitors logged into a trade account by deslecting the setting Show prices including VAT to website visitors logged into a trade customer account?.
When toggling these settings:
- ShopWired will automatically adjust the display of prices on your website accordingly by modifying the output of the to either show prices including or excluding VAT
- You can use the theme customiser to add a VAT line to your website's shopping basket page totals
- You can use platform checkout to toggle the display of prices to be including/excluding VAT and show a VAT line on the totals

Should customers from non-VAT countries be charged the equivalent 'VAT inclusive' price?
When a visitor to your website is purchasing from a delivery zone for which you do not charge VAT, you can still charge the visitor the .

When the VAT equivalent pricing feature is selected, you can refine the type of visitor that is affected using the Which type of customers should be charged VAT equivalent pricing? setting.

You can select which VAT rate is used when calculating VAT equivalent pricing using the setting When calculating VAT equivalent pricing, which VAT rate should be used?.

means that the visitor's delivery zone's VAT rate will be used (this setting is only used where the delivery zone has aYour ShopWired account's default VAT rate

Adjust prices based on the 'VAT status' of the visitor's selected currency?
ShopWired detects the location of visitors using . It can adjust the prices displayed for products and delivery costs accordingly, to remove VAT (and therefore display the NET price) when the setting described above (to charge the VAT equivalent price) is not activated select the setting Adjust prices based on the 'VAT status' of the visitor's selected currency?.

Should the product multi-channel feed output prices including VAT?
When using the Product multi-channel feed app, use the setting Should the multi-channel XML feed output prices including or excluding VAT? setting to select whether the feed contains products and delivery charges including or excluding VAT.
Your selected setting should correspond with the setting selected for the display of prices on your website. Where you are displaying two sets of prices (including and excluding VAT) for this setting depending on the price that is displayed most prominently on the page.
